and this really scares me. Has the sex education program gone bad or what? A woman can get pregnant at any time, but I've seen so many questions where people ask if they can get pregnant after their periods and what not. What is going on?

Real4u, YOU CAN GET PREGNANT AT ANY TIME. I bet there's tons of women out there who've gotten pregnant while on their period.

If children 12 and under are asking if they're pregnant, that's also a huge shame and a crisis!

I hear ya sister! This makes me mad too! That was something I learned in 5th grade!!!! It just seems like common sense to me. I think some people think you can ONLY get pregnant when you are ovulating, which is only a few days out of the month, so they think they are safe the rest of the time...SOOOO not true!!

I know someone who got pregnant on her period too....so you are never safe!!

technically...you can get pregnant ONLY when you are ovulating since that is the only time the egg is out of the ovaries.

But, like most females, this ovulation period is different. Some peoples last longer than others, some change due to stress or birth control. This is why you can get pregnant anytime of the month, because your ovulation may occur at anytime due to certain factors.

As for sex ed, these days kids are LITERALLY having sex sooner. The ones that are having sex sooner are overwhelmed with emotions and worry and questions that they are not equipped to handle at their age. They have learned everything, but fell comfortable hearing advice from others...yahoo answer women.

i know its sad that no one tells girls this... there are so many myths floating about out there particularly about the natural birth control rhythm method... new research has shown why this is not a real form of birth control as women ovulate sometimes several times a month not in relation to their periods...there is a link to the article i wish everyone would read it. i also wish everyone would just get the fact that if you have sex you could be pregnant... unlikely in some cases but still possible.

I was just wondering the same thing!

I'm so tired of girls being so ignorant about their bodies. Plain and simple, if you have sex without protection, you could get pregnant. It doesn't matter at which point you are in your cycle! Even if you take birth control pills, use a condom! It will give you extra protection against pregnancy and protect you againts certain std's.

Maybe schools are focusing too much on the abstinence message. Also, I think that quite a few parents are too embarrassed to speak to their children about sex. Talking to them about it isn't going to make them go out and do it. It will educate them so that if they do go and do it, they will take all the necessary precautions.

I think if we knew the age of the people asking those questions it would probably give you that answer. we have kids 12 and under. and yes the sex education in schools does not seem to be there or kids spend to much time text messaging their friends in class instead of learning. and it seems as if you thought less of if you are still a virgin.

unfortunately, the sex ed program in many states is non-existent. And that's such a shame, we should be taught to know our bodies better at a young age. thank the christians for that.
