When getting directions, is it poss to change critiria it uses to generate the route (ie shortest, quickest)?

I am trying to get alternate directions. The ones I am getting don't always use the best routes (slow moving roads, etc). Is there a way to change how Yahoo Directions finds the route?

I would just use mapquest. It will do what you want it to do such as your examples. GO mapquest
