Its just something we were kicking around at work today. its not about colour its about radical change. like making superman a woman or making fish taste like beef, would it work, would people think it was a gimic or a valid change.

No. The actors who play Bond have to keep on changing but there should be some continuity (although some people over-reacted about Danial Craig being blond). I would have liked Colin Salmon to have become more of an agent in the Bond films as I think that he's an underused actor but changing the character's race would be nothing more than a meaningless gimmick.

Yeah, there could be but why? I think James Bond is such a classic character being a white Englishman (Brit), why would we want to change that? And this is coming from someone is open to a lot of things. Just look at Ving Rhames playing Kojak. Novel idea but it didn't quite seem right - I mean, Kojak is Kojak. But who knows, maybe it could work.

The fact that the latest bond is blonde (and not exactly peroxide, more dark blonde) caused an outcry in itself! People generally do not like change and always kick up a stink. Would be funny to watch fans trip over themselves to start whinging about that! although all their complaints would probably start with "i'm not racist, but...."

Probably there could be yes. When they make the next Shaft film with a pasty ginger bloke that is.

I hope no-one is actually going to suggest it's racist that Bond is white and English?! That's the character! There was enough of an uproar when he turned blonde ffs!!

If the films remain true to Ian Flemming's original character then no, James Bond was white. But anything can happen in Hoolywood so why not and then an asiatic one with Jackie Chan etc etc

Theoretically yes...The question though is would he have the same crossover appeal? probable not...I mean people had such a problem that the new bond had blond hair, so I imagine such a radical change as this would cause the movie to do poorly..

p.s. I read that Diddy wanted to be the "black Bond" that would be a catastrophic failure in my opinion...that guy couldn't act convincingly in a McDonald's commercial.....

There will be a black James Bond when Mr Bush gets black himself

I would see no problem with it, but casting a well spoken english black man would just reveal how inherently racist this country still is. What has skin colour to do with anything?

Why not? Felix Leiter has been both black and white in the films (he was black in Never Say Never Again and the new Casino Royale).

no.nothing racist but the james bond character is british so unless the black guy had a british accent than no it would just **** the movie up.
