First off,it depends on how much money was involved. If it were a lump sum or payments spread out over time.

If it was 2 million (after the gov't takes out the taxes) and it was lump sum, I would pay off all of my bills. Everything I could, like house, credit cards things of that nature, then I would try to convince my hubby that he can afford to take a week or 2 or 3 off from work without worring and go on our honeymoon that we never had (been married 14 years). Then, I would take at least half and invest it , maybe jumbo CD or something to give me intrest back, but isnt too risky that I would lose my money. I would then buy a second home/vacation home, somewhere warm an tropical, so I could get away whenever I wanted to and my family could use it too. By that time I would quite a bit of money left, but I wouldn't want to spend it all, because then you are back in the same boat and maybe having to worf 2 jobs to pay off the extra you bought.

Sorry its soooo long, but I have thought about this many times. If I won enough to maintain me and my family for life, I would then pay off all my sisters/brother homes for them to have and my parents home too. Maybe even take the whole family on a weeks long cruise! Now I'm thinking warmth. Maybe even be like Johnny Depp and buy an isalnd.

Simple: pay off all our bills and the kid's bills, too. Save some. Give some away. Go to a warm place like Australia or Hawaii for a vacatiion. Do some home improvements. Buy the houses of the losers in the neighborhood and put up a cool pole barn. Buy a new Expedition. And finally give to my favorite charties, The Dahlem Center, Michigan Special Olympics, American Cancer Society, and our local hospice. And get a decent hair cut!

Pay off debts, build a nice house (paid off), trade in my mini van for a Suburban. Set up college funds for my kids. Start smaller funds for college for my nieces and nephews. Help out my parents, make sure my grandmother was taken care of for the rest of her life. Set up massive retirement accounts, invest the rest and live off the interest. We would keep our jobs though. We are hard workers and just couldn't quit completely. Besides if we work our health insurance is free.

It depended on how much I won. If it was just a mill I would pay off bills and put the rest away. If it was hundreds of mills then I would give a bunch to family and charity, pay off bills buy a new house put away money for my kids and invest the rest so my husband wouldn't have to work again for the rest of his life and we could have fun everyday!
