In short...because anyone who is not old enough to remember the Carter administration is historically handicapped in understanding WHY this is an issue with the entire Middle East. The Camp David accord in 1978 finally set the militants off because we "meddled" in their affairs by instigating a peace treaty between Egypt and Israel. They've been in "Jihad mode" with us ever since.
Anyone who IS old enough to remember and is REFUSING to see this are doing so because they're just democratic partisan clowns who are STILL pissed that Ronald Reagan won in 1980.

Your statement touches on a small part of the problem.
The fact that we are starting to complain about the war in Iraq is probably normal. That line of thinking by the majority (news polling), leads me to believe that most Americans are not threatened by fanatical islam.
Those who want instant gratification by just saying good bye to Iraq will never understand the high stakes involved until there's an event equal to or worse than 9/11.
The US military does have the support of the American people. At least, all I have seen in the past 4 or 5 years indicates that. It's the actual "What are we fighting for" question that is going on in Iraq. Should we die or be in the middle of Sunni's and Shiite's that want to kill each other in the name of religion?
My opinion: We should get back to Afghanistan and kill that SOB who still breaths air and took credit for 9/11.
Beyond that, create a base somewhere in the middle East (just so they know we are there), beef up American borders and ports and stand by. Unless we do something drastic, fanatical islam is not going to just lay down!

Its so naive for individuals to think of that this conflict is all approximately gas. I only would desire to roll my eyes whilst human beings recommend that. My husband is at present interior the middle east. even nevertheless he does no longer totally accept as true with the excuses why we went to the middle east interior the 1st place, he totally is of an identical opinion along with his purpose for being there now. As a member of the Air stress, he's there assisting to rebuild. he's there for different motives different than "combating". he's relatively proud and commemorated to be a factor of usa Air stress, as is his family individuals. with the purpose to respond to your question, definite, there are nevertheless squaddies who have faith they have an honorable purpose for being interior the middle east. I understand that lots of folk oppose this conflict and our contemporary situations. The offensive comments which you made approximately our troops nevertheless is thoroughly unjustified. I wager you do no longer understand all of us that's interior the protection stress. you haven't any longer any good to make such judgmental accusations approximately human beings you do no longer even understand. honestly, I take that returned, you DO have the excellent to assert those issues. wager who defends and protects your rights......

The front is OPEC financing, immigrant sleeper cells, and thinking that any Moslems can help us--all of which Dubai Dubya supports. If he supported the troops, he wouldn't waste their lives fighting two hopeless nationbuilding wars.

We know too much to believe the people who rule our government. We cannot possibly believe that a race or country are our enemies. We are creating our reality by what we believe is true. We should always strive to keep peace and brotherhood above all ideals. In the same way, we should encourage Islamic world to reject believing that the US is a torturing, barbaric nation, because what they are taught in schools and what they believe will come true. They created their own Abu Grave. They created their own Guantanamo. Raise your thinking to a spiritual level and you will see that you are the creator of your world, and Islam and Israel will only obtain peace when they BELIEVE that peace with neighbors is obtainable by forgetting the past and forgiving the "wrongdoing". Israel should never fear suicide bombing. Islam should never fear US relaliation. All who read this understand that your thoughts are creating your reality and you need to train them to create a loving, peaceful world regardless of the past.

First...let's not use quite that broad a brush. I'm a white, middle-aged, overweight american male. That doesn't mean all white males are overweight or middle-aged. Yes, we should support our troops. Yes, some Middle Eastern countries have "Bad guys" in them, but not all are our enemies.
Use a smaller brush next time.
And Turbo....let's not let facts influence your opinions!

Because recognizing this would be tantamount to agreeing with the hated, evil puppet Bush. It is more important to oppose and disagree and hate all things Bush and Republican than anything else, facts & truth be damned!
