Well... I think that the human mind is incapapable of fully comprehending the idea of an entire universe, let alone several. So, I continue to exist in my own tiny world/universe. It's much easier that way. Otherwise, it hurts yumyum!!!;-)

The universe is an idea in that humankind had to have SOME point of reference. We need some idea to refer to what is "out there" so we create this concept of the universe, much of what we create is simply for point of reference. Because of its size, I don't know if we'll ever really get the scope of it. The best way I've heard it explained was in a fictional book called The Gunslinger(First book in the Dark Tower Series by Stephen King)Towards the end, the protagonist, Roland, is shown the nature of the universe by a man in black. The view keeping pulling further and further away until we see that the universe is a single molecule in a blade of grass in some other reality. Maybe that's all the universe is, one molecule in a much larger organism.

Yes,Gods flippin idea. God did not create all things millions of years ago and disappear. He VISUALIZED the creation of all things to the tinyest of detail then he released his Vision to begin manifestation through the "big bang", the process of creation is still expanding into manifestation. Some call this process "evolution". the facts of evolution and the expanding universe is the proof that "GOD IS". Scientist now say even time came from the "big bang". Scientist recently discovered that in What was believed to be empty space there is a "substance". scientist recently discocered in tests at near absolute vaccuum, suddenly a Substance appeared from Nothing. A lot of flippin love to you. whistle britches

an idea? well, yes. someone had to come up with the concept of what ever is "out there." the far corners of the universe where we cant see or go, exist in our minds, only as a concept. we have no real understanding of them like we would if we ever had personal experience. so, in that way, its just an idea in our heads.
but that can be said for anything.
and then your getting into the objective reality argument...
and then someone brings up god and the conversation is as good as over

The Universe as we understand it is a concept of what we think the universe is. Somewhere underlying that concept is a reality the substance of which is entirely uncertain. We are gaining more and more information all of the time but we are not grasping the situation as of yet.
