A large feral male hog is not a friendly creature. They have been known for thousands of years to attack humans. They are quite capable of killing even a grown man and yes, they are also scavengers that will eat dead flesh. During the American Civil War, union troops revisiting a previous battlefield found hundreds and hundreds of men killed and buried there had been disinterred by feral hogs and eaten. It was said to have completely unhinged more than one soldier who saw it.
I have a cousin who, as a teenager, encountered a razorback hog in the woods in Alabama. The blasted thing chased him up a tree and wouldn't leave. Fortunately, my cousin's father and uncle were out deer hunting, heard his cries for help and came to his aid. The hog turned on them, knocking his uncle to the ground and severely lacerating his legs with a pair of nasty fangs. Cousin's father managed to shoot and kill the hog before it killed the uncle. Later, the family at the hog. There was enough to feed more than seventy people...

I don't believe there are ANY accounts of pigs attacking a human being, to eat him/her I mean (of course pigs, especially wild boar, will attack if they feel threatened, and can gore the odd hunter to death, but that's altogether different: it is not to eat them).
There are a FEW accounts of pigs having eaten human corpses: at Gettysburt, following a civil war episode in chad, and more famously, during the Vietnam war. Fair enough, pigs can eat anything (even if decaying meat is NOT going to be their 1st choice, by far!) - and in those examples the pigs were probably starving so it was eating corpses, or starving to death.
Pigs can be violent if they feel threatened, but on the other hand they can also be very friendly and make great pets. It is difficult to imagine that they could have felt threated by a 3-year old child (as in the news item you refer to).
Bottom-line is I don't believe that this news item is genuine. If a boy's remains were eaten by pigs, then my take is that the boy had been killed / severely wounded beforehand, and the guilty party(ies) decided to feed that boy to the pigs.
Also the details don't work out, it just does not seem believable that in just a few minutes the pigs would have eaten the body and the head, leaving only the limbs.
Sounds fishy at best, and is probably the sad story of a child killed by some family member, either consciously or by accident.

sure pigs will eat anything. And in stressful circumstances, they can, and will, attack living animals. Still their favourite diet would harly include meat, but rather fruit, vegetable, cereal, tubers, etc.
this being said pigs are friendly (even very friendly) with humans, to the point that they can actually become pets. So would they really attack a 3-year old child? I doubt it.
furthermore, apart from a famous scene in a Hannibal Lecter film, referring to pigs specially trained to like human flesh, there is no mention of pigs attacking human beings (to eat them, I mean).
the news item you refer to seems weird and may not be for real, in my view. For one thing the parents say that the boy wandered off and that "after a few minutes" they saw the pigs chewing onto something, and that "only the limbs were recovered".
pigs are not magical and their teeth are not a lion's either. I very much doubt that in just a few minutes, only limbs would have been left (what about the head, the torso).
My bet is actually that, sadly, "someone" did something nasty to that child (an adult can pretty easily kill at 3-year old, either willingly, or by accident), and then that someone attempted to hide the result (dead or severely wounded child) by feeding the body / wounded child to the pigs.
for what it's worth

After six months old male pigs can get very aggressive and dangerous even if they have been castrated. A six month old pig weighs about two hundred lbs. This is when they`re usually taken to the market . It is not normal usually but I can see how it could happen.

actually yes! Pigs are very violent when it comes to this. One must be carefull not to fall unconcious in a pig pen because they will eat anything. They can even be canibalistic. If one pig is seriously wounded the others will actually eat it as well. I know you are never supposed to put your fingers through the fence around pigs for this reason as well.

Apparently it is normal for them. I just read an account of the Battle of Gettysburg by James Coco in which he relates the story of after the battle how pigs feasted for weeks on the dead and wounded soldiers.

I hate to be a "occasion pooper", yet all of those people saying definite are incorrect!!... The little strings in the celery could nicely be pulled off via the guinea pig after which they are in a position to alter right into a choking probability. although, in case you decrease the little strings off, then feed your piggy, then each thing would be superb. Celery is likewise the saltiest veggie. Guinea pigs like it!

i know they can be mean, but my freind and i raised one and we could get in the pen with her and ride her(after a good hosing and scrubbing) she was quite freindly actually. it really depends on the pig. i have been attacked by pigs before,i was just quick enough to get out. and i have seen nast cuts from their tusks. they are not to be taken lightly. I am positive it happens in smaller countries we just don't hear about it.
pigs are omnivors just like humans are supposed to be.so the will eat meat.

Pigs eat anything. They are timid by nature though. Might be that the boy was actually an infant.....
Very saddening news though
