Abnormal Psychology of course is the scientific study of abnormal behavior. If you are interested in the field, the best way to become involved would be to study clinical or counseling psychology. If you are truly interested in diagnosing and developing treatment plans for given disorders, then clinical psychology may be the best route. If you are interested in counseling others, then community mental health/counseling may be the best field for you. There are many different fields of psychology and I would encourage you to examine all of them before making a decision. To receive an overview of the various fields visit the following site:

First I would find out through the educational dept of hospital if they have an angel program. This program is a wonderful place to base a career decision on because you go with an employee of the department you wish to persue and walk their walk for at least a couple of hours...ask questions...observe...decide...
Make a list of the abnormals that you would be involved with every day. What area would you be willing to work with?

im going into the same feild next semister.... i think that theres a real future for such education....cuz everyones crazy!! lol
