It depends on experience and area. In London, they start on 22,000 per year. Outside London, this is 18,000 a year.

The pay rises annoually according to experience, but not by much. If you make head of department or year, you get a 'TLR' which can be £2,000-£5,000 more depending on how big a boss you are!

Then, beyond that the senior payscale is for very experienced teachers and headteachers. Obviously it depends on the size of the school- some headteachers are in charge of 200 staff, 2000 kids, and are paid accordingly.

Approximately £25,000 - £30,000 I would reckon! Why anyone would want to be teacher is beyond me - especially in a secondary school in an area that is economically deprived!
