2 hours in and 2 ours back, train then bus. I only started on Monday so I dunno if i'm really into it yet. But the 4 hour commute it basically eating up my entire day. And the job isnt even what I ultimately want to do but it's with a really good global company so the experience would be benificial. What do you think?

That's a lot of time.
But who knows?
You might meet the man of your dreams on the bus or train!

That is a tough commute, some people do this type of commute for years and say they are used to it and use the time to read and unwind (we rarely get four hours to sit and read or reflect on life) but some people find it hard to lose that amount of time to sitting in public transport - 20 hours a week is substantial!

Can you move closer to work?
Can you see if your role can be more flexible (depending on what you do) to allow for the time travelling - maybe offer to proof read work/documents while travelling or work from home for some of the days to rule out the travel all together.

This is hard as you are new and the commute will seem hard no matter what right now. Get a good book and plenty of sleep for the first month - your might get into it but if it effects your life to the point of ill health then it is not worth it. There are plenty of good jobs out there and remember: You work to have a happy - good life not live to work.

Give it a little more time..... then re-assess it.

Depends if you think the job is worth the commute and the expense. If the company is offering a good salary and the job has good prospects then it may be worth it. I live in London and I now work locally but for many years I commuted into the City with a couple of changes on the Underground and it took over an hour. For many people their commute is much longer than that

Depends on various factors I suppose

( a ) How much does the commuting impact on your life ( b ) Do you like your job in first instance ( c ) The wage,
If the money is good and you like your job and you get on well with your work colleagues then its worth it.

However, if money is not the issue and you can get a job more local to where you live, even at a slightly lower salary, then that might suit you better, and give you your social life back.

Though as one answer already given states the obvious, its your call at the end of the day, good luck with which ever decision you make.

Stick with the job for a while perhaps move or maybe there is a work colleague who would rent you a room to use for a couple of nights a week if so you can cut down on the commute, ask the personnel department if they have and ideas.
Get th experience for you CV and keep looking for the job of your dreams.

I dont think it it worth it really because you will be waisting a lot of time that you could be revising or working on essays.

Fair enough it may be a good company to work for but you only get one chance at Uni.

You have to decide which is more important, this job of passing university.

I go to uni and i only work 13hrs a week which is enough for me. I would like to work more hours and get more money but I would lose my focus in my uni work.

I try and keep a balence but always put uni first.

Not on your life! If the job is really wonderful, move closer to it. Since you said the job isn't what you really want to do, quit today and find a position you love. If you absolutely have to work, consider temp work in your chosen field until you find a company that's a perfect fit. Don't waste four hours of your life every day getting to a job that you do not absolutely love.

I managed a 4 hour commute for 6 months and it killed me. It depends what you want though, If you think it will benefit you greatly in the future and you can handle it, then stick to it. If not you should get out now. Or if you're willing to stick it out then you should find something to do to pass the time constructively, like studying or reading.

Only you can answer that one. It's your job and your commute! You need to ask yourself if you really enjoy the job to put up with the commute. If yes, then it is worth it. If no, then you know what to do.

Some people just don't know when they're lucky........two hours sleep on trains and buses twice a day.

I drive 3 hours communting each day, in heavy traffic, then drive a truck 400 miles over a period of about 12-15 hours.

As Mrs Thatcher said, "Hard work never killed anybody,"
silly cow!
