If by security systems, you mean programs that include a virus scanner, you should not use two at the same time. They will conflict with each other and slow the computer to a crawl.

You can only use one antivirus program, or else you will have serious conflict. Same for firewall. You can use three or four different antispyware program, provided you have the resources without conflict.

Antivirus: No.

Antispyware: Yes.

Firewall: No (But you can use a software firewall on your computer and a hardware one on the gateway.)

geberally no you will only want to have one installed, as they will conflict with other and cause problems
