Family Guy.

the simpsons was at its peak on the tracy ullman show and during the first few seasons. Afterwards they had a few good episodes but nothing even approaching the realm of family guy's level of humor.

The simpsons has gone from bieng the rebel and pushing the line and bieng funny (Like Married With Children) to being a family friendly program and very unfunny and dry (like the Cosby Show- ok thats a bit much, the simpsons is at least amusing and sometimes funny). However girls do like the simpsons and it is bearable to watch with a girl.

The glory days of mr. burns are gone.

South Park far surpasses them both as it is the funniest show out there and they always push the envelope, but seem to be the only voice of reason (it is balanced in its views) in a world that tries to lean right or left politically. SP episodes that take on controversial issues tend to fall into the voice of logic and reason as far as the social commentary goes when the rest of the world is simply towing the "party" line rather than using original thought.

There are absolutely NO simpsons episodes that can even compete with the worst south park episode and very few family guy episodes that can compete with even mediocre south park episodes.

The Simpsons is the far superior show.

Anyone who thinks the Family Guy is better is deluding themselves.

95% of the jokes on the Family Guy can be put into 2 categories:

1. Jokes that rely on repition to the point of going on for too long. Up to a point that can be funny - but it is a fine line between long enough to be funny and too long to lose the appeal. EVERY TIME they do this kind of joke on the Family Guy it goes on for TOO LONG. True this kind of joke does happen in the Simpsons from time to time but they don't use it as a crutch to turn anything into a dumb gag that isn't funny.

2. Jokes that they steal from the Simpsons. I don't think I've seen one episode of the Family Guy where at least 1 of their jokes can't be traced back to an episode of the Simpsons. Just look at Peter, a dumb, white, fat guy. This point is driven home in a recent Simpson's Halloween special in which Homer clones himself a couple of a hundred times and one of the clones is (shock) Peter Griffin. Zing!

In order to catch even 50% of the jokes on the Simpsons you have to be extremely well read and versed in popular culture, to get the jokes in the Family Guy (even the obscure ones) you just have to had grown up in the 80s.

I agree that the Simpsons is on its downhill, but still the worst episode of the Simpsons is still way WAY better than the best episode of the Family Guy.

Family Guy. I've been and still am watching the Simpsons since 1989 when it first started. Family Guy with Stewie and Bryan is hilarious. Simpsons are still funny, but I like something funny and new, and the Family Guy is both funny and new. Also like All-American Dad, but not as much as Family Guy.

SIMPSONS!!!!!!!!! The simpsons is the original and FG has just stolen the idea of a stupid, fat, drinking dad. There is also only one kind of joke on famly guy. Stupid flashbacks. peter - "oh god, that's worse than (insert pun here)."every single time!!!!! it gets old. i have to admit though that some, i repeat, SOME of the george bush jokes are funny

-insert Peter Griffin voice and behavior here-

Umm,... ehhh,.. HM! Uh,.. Ya! I'm gonna go with W. Ya,.. number W,.. No no,.. I know what I'm doing Lois. Actually you know what,.. can I get one of those shapes like those signs,.. Aw Come on guys,.. the signs. Yes,.. a Stop Sign,.. that's it. I think it's called a Sign-agon, named by my great great grand uncle Signage Griffin.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The above did not happen in any episodes of Family Guy,.. or The Simpsons. I am just insane. Thank You!

But I'll go with number three for the Hell of it.

Futurama!

Why? Because the dialog is more likely to manage to stick with me for months or years after I've seen an episode. It's also a, some how, FRESH, and yet, REMINDER of the ways things use to be.

"The Simpsons" is more of a classic - the show has a long-standing reputation and tons of hilarious episodes.

While this is true, "Family Guy" is a little more current, edgy, and many find it funnier (myself included).

The best would be if the writers from both shows teamed up and combined their comic geniuses. I'm sure that they could make one ultra hilarious show! :o)
