Just get a wireless range expander such as this one:

Lots of other mfgs offer same thing, works well.

It depends on the type of wireless adaptor you have. If this is integrated wireless on a laptop possibly not. What you need to look for on your laptop is a port that allows you to put in an attena. Most integrated wireless won't have this. However, if it's an PCMCIA wirless card there should be a small hole in the edge of it to insert an attena cable. If you don't have this your only other option that I can think of is installing an external wireless adaptor that you can plug into your USB port. This will have a stronger signal then most.

Not without doing some invasive modifications. Some laptops have better reception than others. It mostly depends on the type and location of the wireless card as well as the internal antenna. If you want to do the modifications (requires soldering, opening the case) let me know.

Yes... Very simple...
Take some aluminum foil, make a ball out of it, approx. 2" in diameter....
Lay it next to your laptop and see if your signal strength is going up...
I know it sounds pretty crappy, but it does work...

Before I read the "No physical part" I had an idea. It is the only way to boost it aside from moving it closer. Sorry.

You probably need to get a better WiFi card or an external antenna. Not all wifi cards are created equal.
