it help the children in many ways like:
improves the knowledge of the the children
it makes children aware fo what is happening in the world

Well, if TV viewing has an advantage then it also has an effect. Children are like sponges, what they see usually stays inside their conscious or sub-consious mind. If TV will be a learning aid then only educationaly shows should be viewed.

For a child up to 5 years of age, TV is a wonderful medium to present the whole world in multiple dimensions that the parents and nearby society can not provide. The images and contexts, the colors natural and abstract, the voices and their nuances and volumes, and the whole plethora of make-believe give imprints for easier learning life on earth that used to obtain for the older generations quite a long time. But one thing for sure, beyond that age it becomes dull and routine and addictive unless parental supervision is there.
Again TV becomes must in the very old age to get one's moorings or to lose them and forget the pains and monotony of life. That’s it what comes to my mind at this middle age.

welll that depends on how u look at it...tv viewing fro information is good (animal planet, national geo, etc etc)....and also that means giving them time for entertainment...(cartoons...etc etc)...
But the parents must have an idea abt it.....and also an over dose of tv viewing is not considered to be good....first coz that weans them away from the normal activities...such as goign out and playing with others etc etc.....second it can affect the childs studies....
A good balance is what is needed!!!
