It should not have turned bad that quickly. Perhaps what you saw was the milk separating (creamier milk to the top, watery-part to the bottom). This is normal. Just shake it up. Breast milk should be fine in a normally-functioning refrigerator for a couple of days. Push it to the back if you're worried. You can also freeze breastmilk, but if you are only leaving for a few hours, this is not necessary.

The best way to store breast milk is in the freezer.

if you use Playtex bottles you can pump it the night before and put it in one of those bags and freeze it. when you bring it to the doctors office it'll take a little while to thaw and even if it isn't ready when baby starts to get hungry you can run it under warm/hot tap water to finish thawing

It shouldn't have been bad later that day. It probably just separated. You just have to shake it. If you put it in the fridge it should be fine- it lasts 48 hours in the fridge.

Or you could just bring him with you.

A breastmilk storage bag or container. If properly stored breastmilk can last up to 8 days in a refrigerator. It seperates but you just shake it up and it's fine.
