I think it's a bit of a tribute to the small town lifestyle, Americana style. But your best place to look for meanings of songs is www.songmeanings.net -loads of people post up what they take songs to mean, it's interesting.

The Killers' songs aren't supposed to have meaning, kind of like S.O.A.D's songs.
