Think you need to realise that your boss was wrong in asking you. I for one would not want to work with you as I would be worried you would be falling asleep, dont know what job you do but I want to work in a safe enviroment and not work with you if you had only had a few hours sleep.
Tell her that those working practices went out of practice years ago.

She was taking advantage and is sulking because she didn't get away with it.
If you are in the UK, Working Time regulations ban you from starting a shift less than 11 hours before the end of the one you did the previous day. This is to enable you to go home and get a proper night's sleep so that you can function properly the next day.
You were doing overtime anyway, you had no choice and you rang to explain rather than just not turning up.
She needs to get over it and you don't owe her any apology.

Hmm, that is a rather tough one to deal with sometimes. I've been on both sides of the fence, by being a employee, and a employer.
As an employee, you are still an individual that has lifely duties such as family, and kids to still take care of. And sometimes life throw's you a curve ball, and can make you unavailable.
But as for her side... Yes it is a little bit of a let down if she asked you a few weeks in advance if you'd be available. I'm sure she made many arrangements with the secure thought she could depend on you.
I'm sure she'd be a little sore, but would except your apology. Just in the future before giving a secure answer to yes or no, be sure you'd be available.
Good luck...

This was wrong of your boss to ask you to do this, if she was so concerned, why didn't she do it herself? I don't know what kind of work you are in, but I have a feeling it is in the care industry, ie, care assistant/nurse, she sould have known better, if you are tired then mistakes can be made, therefore you are not doing your job properly, then who would she blame if things did go wrong. You have nothing to apologise for, she was in the wrong, not you. Do not grovel to her, just carry on with your job, doing the normal hours that you do, and if she asks you to do it again, tell her to get lost !

You said you would do it ,so she arranged the schedule so you could. That makes bosses upset. But, I'm sure she won't mad for long. Just don't say you'll do unless you have a babysitter. Tell her if you do it again that you need time to find one and you will let her know within a few hours.

My motto is "you work to have a life" you don't "have a life so you can work".
Apologize to your boss and tell her you can't work additional hours because of family commitments.
As far as her being rude, just brush it off.

sorry to put it like this but you agreed to do them shifts....and you let her down, that's why she's pissed off with you, she was relying on you to cover them shifts...the damage is done now...don't worry about it, just don't agree next time if she asks again, unless you have someone to look after the kids...pre plan before saying yes

i think of it particularly is particularly the way it particularly is provided and relies upon upon your courting w/ your boss. in case your boss is looking in a fashion which would be interpreted as hinting that they desire as much as now you - it particularly is irrelevant. yet whilst they are merely curious, or understand which you have merely those days divorced and are being encouraging or maybe though, it particularly is a distinctive tale.

She'll get over it. She was just put in a rut at the time. No biggie. Just apologize again for the inconvenience.
