Emo stands for emotional. Often suicidal, emo's tend to wear clothes similar to goths, except less of the make up and big trench coats etc. Emo's often slit their wrists, aswell.

as u have been told by everyone, emo is short for emotional. they usually have the same type of hairstyle, covering one eye and kinda think the world is against them. "real" emo do not like to be called emo, but "wannabe" emo will be glad to be called emo, they will take it as a complement. wannabe emo people are often described as "scene" (as in, they are into the emo scene, which true-emo people arent.)

I first came across this word, and it was short for "emotional hardcore", a type of music which I was told was best exemplied in Dashboard Confessional. But it seems that it means whatever the person who uses it wants it to mean. I have heard My Chemical Romance described as emo, but I would never say that.

Emo Phillips was a comedian ... ? There are some other uses for the word , I think its similar to poser or wanna be. Also goths , and highly emotional people .

Ohhhhh. Well emo is short for emotional. Although I think it is insulting to call someone that. People have labeled individuals who tend to be not as socially conscious as others. Or what society deems to be emotionally unstable. They tend to have dark hair and their preference of clothing tends to be dark and almost gothic.

emo is a teenage word for someone who is emotional. they usally hurt themselves but not all the time. so "emo" people have really deep moods
