You have to have been off birth control for a few months (the pill takes 2-3 months to fully work out of your system).
The average couple takes about 8 months to conceive. I would start charting your cycle, there's alot of web pages that can help. If you have a 28 days cycle you usually ovulate on day 14. (start counting day 1 as the first day of your period). You should be sure that you have sex the day before, of and day after you ovulate.
Do not waste tests taking them before your period is late, I know it's hard to wait. Don't stress either because that goofs up your cycle and makes it harder. Enjoy yourself! :D Good luck
My DH and I took 1 1/2 years to conceive so all my info is straight from a fertility doctor. We're Due Dec 20!

I'd take another test or go to the doctors. false positive are uncommon - Go to peeonastick.com. I've been trying a year with no luck but i have just found out i ovulate 1 week before my period on a 30 day cycle. ovulation on day 14 is a myth and is taught in schools by textbook all women are different.
Tips
Check your cervical mucus - egg white consistancy is ferilte - go time to concieve.
Basal body temp - takes a few months to get used to - go high after you have ovulated
Good luck

I am still trying to conceive, starting on our fourth month. The best time to try is around ovulation. You need to know how long you cycle is to know when you are ovulating. But for an average most women will ovulate around the 14th day. I have heard two things one is to have sex everyday close to ovulation and the other is have sex every other day around ovulation I dont know which is best yet though. Try to take your test at least after your period is late or missed. Even with the early predictor ones they arent always accurate, not all women have high enough levels of hcg that early. Goodluck and i hope this helped.

Everyone is saying you ovulate 14 days after you start your period, this isn't right. This is a very common misconception. Your best bet is to chart your bbt temperature and check cervical mucus. Also you could use ovulation predictor kits or get a fertility monitor. It takes the healthy fertile couple, on average, 1 year to conceive. The best time to have intercourse is the 5 days leading up to ovulation. You WILL NOT get pregnant having intercourse the day after ovulation (many people will tell you you can, but it is not possible).
If you are not already pregnant, I suggest you start charting. It is the best way to confirm ovulation.
Good Luck.

They say evap lines are grey in color not pink or blue! Get a digital to make sure but I would wait another day!
We O usually about 14 days after our period. you want to have sex before during and after this time! just to make sure=)
Start checking your cervical mucus when it looks like egg whites its fertile. Take your temps every morning. And you can check your cervix to see when its open.
