In acoustic guitars there are also many types, the two basics are the type of strings and the shape of the neck and tuning pegs. Spanish types have a thicker neck and are usually strung with a mixture of nylon and brass wound strings that are attached to the tuning pegs through the headstock. This type usually has a slightly deeper tone. Standard acoustics's have a thinner neck and tuning pegs that protrude through the headstock for the strings to be attached. Strings can range from heavy to ultra light and usually have a higher tone. Acoustic guitars generate their own sound without the need for amplifiers. A Bass carries only the low frequency tones usually with only the low four strings similar to the bottom four strings of a guitar (Note: The string layout for guitar is from the high E the smallest string to the Low E which is the largest with the high E being 1 and the low E being 6.) Basses come in both acoustic and electric as well. Electrics require an amplifier in order to hear the sound but in general are not that much different in general layout from Standard, the most prominent feature would be the distance from the string to the fret (or action). Requiring less pressure to achieve tone without distortion. Hope this helps without being too confusing. Good Luck.

Well an Electric guitar is what you hear in most all rock songs, an acoustic would be more like what you would hear in a Folk song... Both of these have 6 strings. a Bass you will never hear unless your ear is trained or its turned up really loud such as in an Iron maiden song..... The Bass keeps the rythem and is a very low deep sounding instrument, The Bass also commonly has 4 or 5 strings. The Guitar is way cooler, but the bass is easy to learn

The electric has six strings. It produces the main sound for many bands, and have a higher pitched sound. Bass, is the one i play... It has only four strings, a lot easier to play, and has the low sounds for the bass in a band. Acoustic is exactly as it sounds. With six strings (unless you get the acoustic bass) it produces a more mellow and relaxing tune.

Acoustic is non-electric; bass is easiest to learn; electric is just that. Go to Musiciansfriend.com and look around/request a catalog. They have all models and instruction books/cd/dvds as well.
Good Luck!!
