to say that the man is a tosser is wrong who on gods earth gave us the right or the ability to judge someone with such cruelty i agree the drugs and the way he is advertised as a legend whilst being on the drugs is not good for society but surely the problem is with the public that buy the papers and support the press to do such things i mean if the press were even slightly interested in helping this man out they would pay for his treatment and push him all the way to getting clean

now on the other hand the mans musical and peotical talents are unmatched in my opinion and he truly has a great talent for words and music he is yes in need of help but surely if we all wanted this nice clean world we would all help him out wouldnt we

and as a last note what about all of the other supposed celebraties out there that are f**ked off there heads on cocaine most of the time i dont see many people not watching eastenders or going to the theatre cos they are that bothered about drugs

He has done some rather poetic tunes and certainly has a gift for words and music. I find it interesting that the people who hate him are the ones who idolise Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, 2Pac and John Lennon. They were all big druggies in their time and all had a creative gift but are idolised to the max nowadays. A lot of creative people a have big drink and drug habits. Wilkie Collins wrote all his books off his head on morphine, all the impressionist poets and nearly all of the impressionist painters had a big absinthe and hashish habit. Sigmund Freud was a sex crazed charlie fiend. It seems as if creativity and intoxicants are singulary intermixed. But I digress. He is a tosser, but a rather creative one. That is something that cannot be taken from him, despite what the News of the Screws says.

All people see and believe of this great writer and poet is the gutter trash that is written about in the tabloids. If such trash was writen about anyone else the country would not belive a word however now that they have created a monster junkie that will influence your kids more than a 'hood on the back of their jumper' everybody jumps all over the man.
I believe he is a talented individual with a kind soul however people do not want to see this side of him. He is a self-confessed drug addict and is currently battling those demons. Elton John once did the same and now he is one of the countries elder statesmen of music. However Doherty's music speaks to a whole generation and encourages people to be more creative and purposeful with their lives.

Complete tosser. Carl Barat was the genius in The Libertines.

I think both. When he wasn't doing drugs he made some nice music. But now he's on the drugs he's a complete tosser. If he got clean i think he might be ok. The courts don't help, they should force him to get clean or something.

It's Pete Doherty (not Docherty)
He's a complete buffoon, and don't buy his records because he'll only the spend the money on drugs.
