You need to start by putting together a presentation. The only thing an advertiser cares about is reaching potential customers for their products.

First, I'd do some serious research on your own website visitors - how many of them are there? who are they? what are their demographics?

second, figure out which companies (and their specific products) make the most sense to advertise on your site. put together a proposal demonstrating how they can best reach the users of your site - and why they should (what the advertiser gets out of it). The proposal has to include recommended unit sizes and the cost for those units. Once you get advertisers, remember you're going to live and die based on performance results, which will vary by advertiser.

Good luck.

It depends how much traffic is going through your site. If you have 10000 unique visitors a month then you shouldn't have a problem providing that your pricing is made attractive to companies.

But if you have little or no traffic then you better start concentrating on optimizing your site to increase it's ranking and traffic.
