When I hear this phrase, I always picture people wasting time. Participating in trivial acts, which ever shape or form it may be.
But, on the other hand, I guess people COULD understand this phrase, in the way that, somebody maybe needed to take some action in their lives, maybe do something for the better.Maybe they are procrastinating.
But, I think that when things are being said, we should always check the source too. Maybe they have no life of their own, so they judge others.
I dunno... I guess this phrase COULD mean many things, in different situations.
Love

It all depends in what context they are saying this. It could be the person is referring to someone who maybe on a life support with no or little chance of recovering to a normal healthy life. In this case, I would tend to agree, but life is precious at all stages. Also, not so perfect for the relatives and friends of the person in a vegetative state, maybe they feel they have no life either. Something to think about maybe.

I think it's stupid. I mean, they're ALIVE, right!? That's all that matters. When somebody says that it usually means they disagree with the way that person is spending their time. But really, who cares? I can spend my time however I want. So say like, one person could think that spending their Friday night at home gaming/programming/reading would be their idea of an awesome night, whilst another who thinks that this person "has no life" might spend their weekend partying and getting laid/drunk/high and think that they have a life. It's all different for everybody.

I think of people who do the mundane things that people do, to get through their working day, and then just stop. They finish the day without doing anything to put pleasure or meaning into their life. They just exist to work.

I think of my ex husband. His mortgage and car are paid off,he doesn't go to restaurants, cinema,or pubs, doesn't go on holiday-he says you just have to come back anyway, and has no hobbies. So he's so bored that he decided to take on a second job to have something to do! His only joy is watching his bank balance rise. I'm not joking!

I think the people that say it are stuck in a massive orbit of pompous self importance, because it's a stupid thing to say to someone that's already alive.

pursuing an interest or a hobby. making a dream or dreams come true. it doesn't really matter what they are; as long as they're yours, and to blazes with what anyone else thinks. this is having a life.
the rest is just work and bills I'm afraid.

When i say someone has no life, i mean that they are too focused on other things.....and not themselves......like people who are so worried about what others are doing that they are not even looking at what they are doing....
