Hello Mike. What you need to do, I mean, we all need to do when we're feeling a little stressed up and there's too much burden is to breathe, relax. Go to places that is relaxing and has a peaceful ambience. Listen to slow music because according to psychiatrists, music and even scents affects your mood. That's my advice. Having a clear mind is very important. It makes you think clearly and focus on things like your lectures and exams. Did you know that I am a medical student as well? I'm a medical transcription student, the newest member of the medical team. That's why I can relate to you somehow. I also relax when I feel I'm about to explode. I hope somehow I was able to help you Mike. ^__^

I'd say, if medical school is really something you want to do... Then being in your situation, i would take a break. Do something else that you enjoy very much, like I am not sure where you are, but let's say a walk in the forest... or camping night with friends... Go to the movies.. something like that. Once in a while won't hurt you, and it will relax you, you may be able to continue. Don't worry, it is not just in medical school that it happens... Keep on the good work !

Drop out. Medical schools is designed in such a way so that if you are not good enough they break you. If you are getting to that point it will eventually get worse to the point were you will absolutley be removed or drop out all together. That is the philosophy of the system. They want the best of the best. It's a "darwin chamber".

try "NO2" by the company MRI. it is a well-made extended release capsule of arginine alpha-ketogluterate. (A-AKG) it's pretty new and it's meant for athletes, but it rocks. little pricey. get it from their website and look for the discount.

also take a quality multivitamin with breakfast (or maybe lunch if you tend to get tired after lunch) i also suggest cal/mag/zinc pills. if your diet is not excellent, supplement beneficial fats

optimal diet, cardio, occasional sunlight

you might try ginseng

as for tips on how to buckle down, I don't really have any.

Unfortunately that's only gonna get worse, doctors are really busy people. If the cause is depression, why don't you ask a doctor about counseling or medication

First and foremost, remember your long-term goal and the joy you will feel after acheiving it. Whatever you're doing in the medical field, don't give up. Strive for truth above all, and remember why you went into medicine...the world needs you.
