What exactly makes us Male and Female?

Is it:
A. The Difference in Anatomy?
B. Or our DNA?

I will follow with up with some shocking information when people have responded to this. This is actually a truthful question not a joke.

Actually what makes us a FEMALE or MALE is Anatomy. I found this to be shocking. But. After a sex change you are considered the sex of your change. legally it has nothing to go with your DNA. Here I would have thought it was our whole genetic makeup up, Anatomy, Hormones and DNA.

Actually, it's B as well as C: Hormones.

Although DNA controls the process, it's actually hormones that determine our gender. We all begin as little female zygotes, but DNA-encoded instructions during gestation switch on the production of hormones that change the embryo to a male in the womb.

It's why hormone therapy is so effective in changing the secondary physical characteristics in an adult undergoing a sex change.

first DNA...anatomy is built based on the information present on dna present in the chromosomes....humans have 23 pairs or 46 chromosomes, out of which 22 pairs are autosomes[vegetative].the remaining 2 pairs are sex chromosomes..also called allosomes.sex chromosomes are xx in female&xy in male.sex is determined at the time of fertilisation i.e fusion of male&female gametes....so based upon this genetic constitution, anatomy is built.presence of y chromosome makes it a male&absence of y makes it a female.

B. It is our DNA.
That is the difference between a x or y chromosome. If one piece was different along the chain of your dna it could change hair color, hair style, eye color, skin, everything about you. This includes gender.
