you will have to go to court, tell the judge you can't find one, and one should be appointed.

You have to tell us what the nature of the court proceeding is. Because the judge told you to find a lawyer, that likely means that it's not a criminal proceeding where actual imprisonment is on the table (because you have a constitutional right to have counsel appointed for you then). My guess is that this is some family law or medium-serious civil matter, like child support, or eviction, or contract dispute, etc. If you do not attend a hearing, a default judgment may be entered against you for the relief requested in the complaint (or, if you're the plaintiff, your case will be dismissed). Be prepared--have a document showing all of the steps you've taken to procure counsel, or why you were unable to put much effort into it. Be prepared for the worst, but be honest and open about your problem. To the extent that you can ask for more time, do so. Good luck; just make sure you go.

If you do not show up for court you will get in trouble. BIG trouble.

If the judge thinks you have been messing around and not trying to find a lawyer, the judge will not be happy with you. The judge will be irritated that the schedule will need to be changed again to accommodate you. Apologize and ask to have an attorney appointed for you.

You have to go to court even if you don't have lawyer. You can't just not show up. Depending upon the seriousness of the case and your exact role in the case, the court can even issue an arrest warrant against you if you repeatedly don't show up.

You will be in trouble if you don't go. Go and tell the judge you weren't able to find a lawyer. If this is a criminal trial, you will be appointed a public defender.

If you fail to appear, the judge may issue a bench warrant for your arrest.

The court will only postpone the trial for so long. If it is a criminal trial you should be able to get legal aid or something. If you delay the court will assume you don't care and will begin proceedings by issuing a bench warrant. They can pick you up at any time or place. usually it will happen at the MOST INCONVENIENT time. GET IT RESOLVED and move on.

I have been going through the court system for almost 6 years now..It was for custody and child support. I don't know your situation but I would not just not show up..The courts can rule...So if I were you I would go and simply ask if for the courts permission to allow more time on seeking council for your case..

Yes. They will put a warrant for 'failure to appear' and when they find you they'll take you to jail and make you pay a HUGE fine. I would just go and try to get a public defender. It's much easier.
