This is done ONLY for appearances. Americans feel it is unclean to leave a male child intact. Which if Americans would teach there male children to bath and keep clean this would not be a issue.
A cute little boy who then gets a very sharp knife taken to his little private area and then gets a part of his flesh CUT. You can hear a baby scream from this. There has been many baby boys get there little private area cut OFF.
All this because parents do not want to teach there kids to keep clean, it is a shame!
I no a boy who had to have his cut and he was 4 or so. He had this done because his parents did not keep him clean and he got infected down there.....
There are many things about the Europeans that I do like!

Typically, Jews have their male children circumcised, yes; circumcision is probably the most universally observed Jewish commandment. Beyond that, I'm not clear what your question is -- who is making a big deal out of circumcision and Judaism? It is a big deal in the Jewish community, yes, as circumcision is considered the first commandment given by God to Abraham, as an outward sign of the covenant between God and the Jews. If you're Jewish and in any way observant circumcision is absolutely a big deal because of its religious and cultural significance. The ritual circumcision takes place on the 8th day of a baby boy's life (and NOT when the child is a few months old), and is performed by a Mohel (pronounced "moy-el"), a person who has been specially trained and who may or may not be a Rabbi (typically a Mohel is a Rabbi, Cantor, or other spiritual leader of the Jewish community....but, again, not necessarily a Rabbi).

I had my son circumcized b/c it is more normal for one thing. It is also more sanitary - less chance of infections. I didn't want to NOT do it as a baby and then him have to have it done for some reason later on in life - how painful would that be? OUCH!!
But also, my great uncle was a doctor. I found out when I had my son that no one on my Dad's side of the family, including my brother, had been circumcized - he delivered them all and saw no medical reason to do that. My brother seemed insulted that I had my son done. I pretended I was not going to have my son done unless my now EX got a vasectomy - it worked. They both had their wee-wee's worked on!

Because being circumcized is Healthy, you can get diseases being non circumcized. Its cleaner and I would prefere when it comes to a guy. Europe doesnt, but then they do alot of things different over there.

In the beginning it was a ritual in the Old Testament. The New Testament has, more or less, negated the need for that that ritual. However many people continue to do it, partly because of religious reasons and partly for health/hygiene reasons. Europeans have never been as concerned about hygiene as Americans.

Health reason. Do you know that Muslims does too? Now you know. I bet there are more men circumcized than uncircumcized.

At this point in life its a personal choice.
I had my son circumcised (I wanted him to look like his Dad) and several of my friends chose not too.
We are in Houston. Not Jewish. Either is okay in my book.
Prior to marrage -I had been with men both ways. It really wasn't a huge issue for me, the man I loved happened to have a "clip"!

It's purported to be healthier. Evidence today is contradicting at best. In the US, it is primarily done now because no father wants his son to be "different".

It's a pretty standard practice these days for hygiene reasons. Removing the foreskin makes it easier for little boys to keep their wee-wees clean.
