I'm not really a fan of U2. Personally I think they aren't as good as their fans seem to think they are. The only reason why they are so popular is because Bono does a lot of things to better the world. Good gesture but I agree, bad singer!

Before I say anything here you should know I'm Irish and I don't like Bono.

But to say he can't sing is completely wrong unfortunately.

Have you heard Miss Sarajevo? He performed it with Pavarotti and it is Bono singing a lot of the operatic parts in the song. He is able to smash a glass with his voice which is something most bloke's can't do too. And if you'd ever heard him live I don't think you could really complain because he doesn't hit a wrong note all night.

And whoever said something about his €2,000 per night hotel....it's five star and one of the best in Dublin so he's charging the standard rate buddy.

So although I don't think you can complain about his talent (or his hotel prices) you CAN hate the sound of his voice, his ego, his interference on the world political stage, the fact that he wears 4 inch shoes to cover up that he's a shorta**e and many, many other things.

Perhaps you should consider what you mean by a good singing voice ? No he doesnt sing like many people who are thought to have great voices and no he wont be considered for greatest voice ever but he's voice is distinctive and projects the emotion of each U2 song exactly as it was meant to be so in that way he does have a great voice. Since when did the lead singer of a band need a stunning voice to be considered a great lead singer....Mick Jagger , Oasis , Arctic Monkeys .... need i go on ??
Its quite sad the english public in general have a hard time accepting them being that they are irish. Their only response is the cheap one of knocking them down instead of trying to listen without prejudice like George Michael said. End of the day having an opinion about a band simply cause of what you feel about their geography or political views is silly and deprives you of a wealth of great music you just might have gotten to love if you gave it a chance. So to sum up ... Bono is great because he's singing touches millions of people world wide with an emotional delivery and soulful touch.

Bono has one of the most recognisable voices in the world, and in spite of not strictly keeping in tune, he still manages to make U2's music sound GOOD. Singing doesn't have to hold fast and true to the score given, and the variation is sometimes what adds beauty to it.

Besides, I think he and the rest of the band have earned their legend status. That's more than can be said for many of the pop, rock and metal bands out there whose vocalists also can't hold a tune.

I've been musically classically trained and perform in musical theatre. If I (and lots of other performers I know) think Bono sounds good, I'd say there's a positive consensus here.

I guess I have to disagree being a major U2 fan, however I will try and give an unbiased opinion.
Bono doesnt have the best voice out there but he knows how to use it and just look at the resulting sales and world wide status. To say he cant sing is really silly and you obviously dont know anything about music.
Also, why do you feel the need to come on here and slag him off, he has done more for world poverty and debt thatn anyone in the history of politics and government. Do you have nothing better to do with your pathetic life...why dont you try and change the world, I know why, because your lazy and have too many problems with your own life that you have to slag others off.
When you have over 100 million in your bank account then you can slag him off.
Got a bit unbiased at the end there...sorry!

The answer by Andromeda is a real unbiased opinion and a good one, the rest of you are idiots!

Yohan - for your information Bono does give his own money to charity and he gives his time which is worth millions. What is HILARIOUS is the fact you cant spell you moron! p.s. I do have plenty of money but I choose not to give it....my 10 month old son has more brains than you.

If you want to know a very good vocal coach try to visit https://tr.im/LqQYR an online vocal coaching tutorial. Everything, ranging from breathing fundamentals, vocalizing exercises, techniques on singing high and low notes, how to not go off-key/out of tune/off-sync, musicianship and music theory, proper diction and articulation, and a lot more are covered, all in our native language. It can be quite technical in nature, but it really helps since it covers the musical aspect of singing deeply and not just concentrates on how to impress people with your vocal range, riffs and runs and other cliches that do not necessarily make one a complete vocalist.

gkdu21970's answer was HILARIOUS. no one has more done more for world poverty than bonoe, brilliant. why doesn't the poster make a difference, like bonoe (who's an idiot)? maybe because they don't have the same platform or exorbitant amount of money that bonoe has. and then after saying bonoe was the most benevolent man you boast about how he has £100m in his bank account. don't you see the irony in that? i tell you what, there are people in third-world countries who get less than 10p a day; if bonoe is so kind, why doesn't he give £50m to africa? does he feel he's earned that £50m more than a doctor who saves peoples lives or needs it more than a starving african child who has HIV but can't afford the proper medication?

as for bonoe's vocals......okay in the electronic flush of achtung, baby....otherwise, they sound pretty frail

Selena Gomez releases songs that oftentimes get the attention of youthful girls this is from being on the Disney channel tutor Wizards of Waverly place for incredibly it gradual. Majority of actors and actresses on the Disney and Nickelodeon channel has began a occupation in performing then making a song which makes it look as though they sing to receive money particularly than doing it because of the fact they like it. As from listening to her audio song "Who Says" and listening to it stay i can work out incredibly a significant difference which i do no longer locate as though that's because of the fact she is out of breath. Selena Gomez is a large performer yet while she sings stay she sounds as though she has a chilly because of the fact that her voice is quiet and raspy.

He can sing as far as I'm concerned. I love U2, always have. Their sound is uniquely their own and thats what I enjoy the most about them. I adore all the band members and believe they each have something to offer. I'm 54 years old and lived thru several decades of music so I know what I like and I know a little about what's good and what completely stinks.Well alot of fans out there world wide, so they must be doing something good, huh?

I will answer this as we share the same surname...

I have not noticed that, no. Although I am not a particularly big fan of U2.

You know, even if he can't sing so well, at least he tries... which is more than most manufactured pop 'stars' of today probably do.
