I love to perform and have now for a long time. But I would LOVE to be on a soap opera and was wondering how I would get my start. Any advice?

Hey Danae,

First, check out the Screen Actors Guild site below. Then, go through the papers, and web sites looking for auditions.

Best of luck!

Soap Operas are taped in New York City and Los Angeles. Live in NY or L.A. If your agent thinks you are a "soap" type he can submit you when a role is open on a soap. Otherwise, you send your headshot/resume to the soaps, so you can, hopefully, work as an Extra, Under-5 or Day Player performer.

With no real offense meant,,,WHY???

I applaud that you wish to ACT, and I'm not at all a fan of Soaps, but they seem to offer regular paychecks.

My curiosity however, in your case, is deeper.

I want to assume you have a life. What is there about soaps that attracts you to want to LIVE TWO LIVES,,,which in essenece is what soap stars must do.

Isn't playing out your own, very real life, enough? No offense to them either BTW.

Without question a vast number of viewers absorb themselves in daily soaps, hence denying a REAL life on their side of the TV screen. What is it that causes that??? ESCAPE?

Consider something as inane as G.H. or others,,, can one actually differentiate after awhile, in a 30 plus year long soap career, between Real, and not?

As an actor/actress. is ones scope, or dream, so limited as to not want to "explore" outside of a situational, alternate life, that offers the mundane, and known ahead of time experiences, in the 44 minutes out of an hour a day???
