Even i am a coin collector. I started my collection by buying coins from hobby centres. Later, I asked other people whom I know e.g. neighbours who went to foreign countries. They will surely give you. Then you exchange your coins with other collectors only when you have two or more coins of the same country, design and value.

Try coin dealers, they usually put average World Coins in their junk boxes and sell them cheap. Go to a dealer and see if he sells Numismatic News, it is a coin newspaper and comes out each week. They have a world coin section where people are selling world coins. Some even sell mixed coins by the pound.

You can go to Ebay.com and check out their coins. Check your phonebook and see if you have a currency exchange place - sometimes it is where you get your passport. Check online and see if their is place where you can exchange currency. In large cities they have places like this so people returning from a foreign country can exchange the currency. Check it out.
