I was making a list off things I want to see and do before I die, and the list is very very long.

My Question to everybody is: with so many things to do what would you try and see or do before you get to old? and what would you leave till later in life as health and fitness would not matter so much.

Thanks for your contributions and helping me in listing my goals.

Interesting that you pose this question. I had a health scare a few years ago that caused me to think that thought. Health wise it's all ok now.

But - I do have my evergrowing list. Have marked off several things. Have plans to do more.

Have marked off:
1) white water rafting the Grand Canyon
2) camping out on the canyon floor
3) helicopter ride
4) staying at a dude ranch
5) skeet shooting
6) flying on a very small plane
7) seeing Niagra Falls
8) see more islands in the Caribbean - about 15 done so far
9) see a Rain Forest - Costa Rica
10) train trip along side the Panama Canal

I'm sure there are more maked off - but that's what comes to mind right now.

Still to do ....
1) Norweigan Capitol cruise - planning stages now for 2007
2) Ride in a hot air baloon
3) See the Terra Cotta wariors / soldiers
4) See the Great Wall of China
5) See the Northern Lights
6) Alaska
7) Visit the Redwood Forest
8) Mt. Rushmore
9) Visit the North & South Poles
..... this list is ever growing.

I hope to get to mark them all off. That's my plan.

PS - I removed bungy jumping! After all I'm 50ish - and female.

Since you can still travel pretty far into old age, I would say to get those athletic things out of the way.
You have to:
1) Run in a long race, some would say a marathon, but that's impossible for some people, so whatever distance really pushes you to your limits.
2) Skydive. I have yet to meet a person who was not super pumped they did this after completion (although the people who really hated it generally aren't around to *****).
3) Hike a trail, be it in Europe, America, Asia, Australia, whatever, hike a 2 or 3 day trail and get back with nature.
4) Try surfing. It is hard, and you'll probably suck, but at least you can say you tried when you're old and gray.
5) Go to a crazy party event, my suggestions are Carnival in Rio, or Octoberfest in Munich. Both bring the pain and are known the world over.
6) Learn a language. Everyday that passes it is harder for you to pick up a language, so work on it now and you can use it in your travels!

Bike down Mt. Haleakula (sp?) on Maui. You start out at 3:00 in the morning and watch the sun above clouds. It's spiritual. You start out in a snow suit and gloves (provided) and spend the rest of the day on a gentle downward glide, peeling off clothes, stopping in villages, eucalyptus forests, bamboo, guava, waterfalls and nature abound ending up in an artsy, surfing village. It's incredible!

Definately the mountain gorillas in Uganda or Rwanda... I'm off there myself in December... there aren't many left in the world so that's what i intend to see before I die...

Also Basecamp Everest.. you can get a trekking permit.for Nepal and the walk/trek is a hardy 14-21 days but I'm sure it's well worth the effort!
