A fur coat should be looked after by a furrier.
The fur should NEVER be put in a plastic bag or taken to a regular cleaners.
If not properly handled the skin will become brittle and split. A furrier will tell you how to store it in the off season and may even have a storage vault.

Take it to your nearest dry cleaners. Then get a fabric garment bag with a bottom to it to store the coat in, and invest in ceder chips to put in the bottom. The chips will keep the moths out without the chemicals of moth balls, and leaves a better smell in the coat that moth balls, which are toxic and harmful to humans and pets.
If you opt to fold it, instead of hanging it, then look for a cardboard box that has a good tight lid. Then wrap some cedar chips in a fabric bag, or buy a pre-made fabric bag of cedar chips.
Never use plastic to store clothing. It doesn't allow clothing to breathe, so as the temperature changes inside the box/bag, moisture can build up. Which results in mold and mildew forming on your clothing.
