even when they're not plugged into the comp i still hear sounds. it's very unclear but its definitely radio. now all of a sudden i can only hear radio. i put on windows movie player but there is no sound only radio???

I have the same problem.
Luckily, being a communications engineer myself, I know the root cause. It is because you are living too close to a radio broadcasting antenna. You need an effective noise shielding for your electronic devices. The best way is to have an EMC shield (commercially available as a wraparound device for signal wires) for your signal cables.
Ask a vendor dealing in electronic components for the same.
