this honestly depends in what part of the world you're living in!
therefore the key factor in increased lifespan is determined by socioeconomic standards. those with lots of money have access to better health care, water, sewerage removal services, and wider access to food therefore there is a decline in spread of disease in these areas. also the reasearch in medical science has improved greatly therefore better healthcare = increased life as doctors can just bout save or prevent anything.
in poorer the longer lifespan is not the case-just think about africa where some children don't live longer than 6 yrs or adults longer than 20 due to the AIDS epidemic

people are better fed as children so the are more robust as adults, there are new advances in medical technology such as vaccinations, pace makers, new kinds of surgery and chimotherapy. And we have higher levels of heigene, and acess to a wider variety of food, and vitamin supplements.

From what I was aware people lived a lot longer back in the days of the bible...the bible whether we like it or not it is a history book.

today we have steroids and certain types of other medication and treatments such as chemotherapy to rid us of cancer we've also become more amune to diseases such as the black plague
