It's probably blocked with hair mixed with soapy gunge.

If you don't want to use a harsh chemical specialist cleaner, use a plunger, place plunger over plug hole, run some hot water into the bath, hold a cloth over the overflow outlet, and use the plunger, this should clear it. Then pour some washing soda and hot water solution down the plughole to clear the gunge and make it smell sweet. If you haven't got washing soda you can use baking soda (sodium bicarbonate/bicarbonate of soda)

There is a ubend under the plughole (similar to under the kitchen sink but shallow) and long hairs usually get trapped there. The sure fire way to clean it is
1) remove bath side panel
2) put an old tea tray under the trap and take out end plug
3) if the fittings are threaded I usually remove the whole trap but if the joints are solvent welded I do the job in situ
4) remove all the gunge from the trap
5)re- assemble and put some water through plughole to check success and check for leaks
6)if all OK refit bath side panel

You can try Drano or Liquid Plumr, but use the gel versions, not the powder. If you have a minor clog, either of these will help get rid of it. If you have something serious wrong down there, you'll probably have to call a plumber to come with a "snake" (a long device that gets down in your drain and clears out clogs) to do it for you. You shouldn't use the powder version of Drano, etc., because if you have a serious clog, the powder/water combination will just back up the drain, then get hard and solidify, and it will be a huge pain in the neck to clear it out.

Go buy Drano Max. It's industrial strength and comes in a yellow one gallon jug. I've used it on everything, including hardened plaster in a pipe. Pour as much down there as you can. (forget the 1 cup recommendation) or whatever it says. Let it sit for 5 or 6 hours and I promise you the drain will run fine. The only thing that it won't clear is roots and I doubt that you have roots in your tub drain.

If you want to avoid using harsh chemicals, pour half a box of Arm & Hammer baking soda down the drain. Let it sit about 15 miniutes. Then pour 2 cups of vinegar down the drain. You may see some gurgelling and bubbling. Let it sit 15 minutes, then run hot water. Repeat as often as necessary.

Pour down some DrainO found at your local store. Let it sit over night, then in the morning, run down some hot water, Take a Toliet plunger, and plunge, until stuff comes up, and water goes down faster. Use a Hanger tip to pull out hair and build up in the drain. Warning, its going to look gross, but the result is great!

Tape up the drain hole, get out the plunger and plunge away. Try to pull up not push down, you're trying to get suction going. Then when you get all the gunk up, collect it with paper towels because if it goes right back down the drain you're back to square one again. Good luck it's a messy job. Have a garbage bag, paper towels and disinfectant spray soap (I used 409 with bleach) ready for clean up. Did it a few days ago myself.

There will be a hair monster lurking below the plughole. Go fishing for him, with a thin wire bent at the end into a little hook.
Or, dissolve him with caustic soda (not washing soda) from Boots, but follow the instructions carefully and wear rubber gloves, otherwise it will dissolve you.
