She is in a tough situation. If she doesn't get the D&C, and the remaining tissue from the dead baby doesn't pass it could cause a life threatening infection... However, to have a D&C done, they have to dilate the cervix. Dilation will most likely cause her too lose the other child as well.
She will have to talk to her Dr. or get the opinion of another Dr. as to what is the best thing to do. She could essentially be putting her child and herself in danger by not having it done. But at the same time if there is a chance at all the remaining tissue would pass on its own, then I would not have it done either. If she chooses not to have the procedure, She will need very close monitoring.. and if any illness, fever, vomiting shows up.. then she will need to get back to the Dr. right away. It could be signs of infection.
Sorry for her loss and good luck!

Go see a midwife OR if midwives are illegal where you live find a family doctor that delivers babies.
OBs are surgeons.
Personally I wouldn't have the D&C and I do not see how a blood clot can cause an infection, it is just blood -your own blood.

I wouldn't do the D&C (this scrapes the lining of the utris) and will affect the other baby. I would tell her to get a third opinion! Good luck!

Sweetie that is a hard one for someone that wants a baby. If one doctor is saying do it and another is saying not to, I think she should go with what she feel is right. She go to a specialist and get their opinion.

if your friend bleeds continously, she will not be in a position anymore to hold the new baby. you have to ask second opinion or even third opinion from gynecologists. there maybe some other ways to save the baby and to save your friend as well.

See a couple of other doctors to see what the consensus is among them.
If you're not satisfied with the second opinion get a third, fourth, ... etc.
