I have to let you in on a secret...a little pet rat is just like having a dog! You can train them to come, give kisses, play hide and seek. You only have to clean a cage, not a whole litter box or yard. Get past the thought of it being a rat and you will be very happy. I have owned 4 of them, at different times, and all have made me happy.

Well, first I would find out what part of pet ownership your flatmate has a problem with: having an animal have full run of the house, the mess, the noise, allergies, etc. That is very important! Cage animals can be a lot of fun. My daughter has had a lot of fun with her hamsters (be careful with the cute Siberian ones...they can be mean!) Her first hamster would ride around in her pocket or her fanny pack. She made mazes for him to play in. He was a neat hamster! The downside to hamsters is that they are nocturnal, which mean that they make a lot of noise at night while you want to sleep! I also had a goldfish for almost 2 yrs. that responded to my walking by, and would nibble my finger if I put it near the top of the water. He was really fun! The downside to the fish is the cleaning of the tank or bowl...at least once a week. Work with your flatmate to see what the main issue is. That way everyone will win: you, your flatmate, and your future pet!

we have allergies to dog and cat hair and decided to try a rabbit. they're clean, house trained, non-allergenic and make no noise. It does take a little commitment to show love and boundaries at eh beginning, but they will end up being like a pet cat with full range of the house. Check out www.rabbit.org

guinea pigs are the best, the are clean, cheap to mantain, and if u let it run the hse it i simply like a dog just thtit squeaks... if u dun let it run the hse, the alternative is to kep it in the cage, and when u have the time to supervise, u can let it run abt as it likes, like perhaps an hr or two for the guinea pig to exercise...it wld be good, cos guinea pigs eat all kind of vegetables and fruits so if u r eating it, just cut a chip off and throw it in , it will be happy!!!

you have needless to say enable your dogs take over you. He thinks he owns you. each and every time the cat is going close to you or you desire to puppy the cat now, he's going to objective and administration that the cat isn't everywhere close to you. Get a dogs coach or try gazing dogs Whisperer with Cesar Millan to suitable tutor your dogs.

All depends on if your home alot or not? certain pets require alot of attention, think about if you got to go away (like for weekend), who going to take care of it? Fish require low care, caged animals are high care and smell, lol, If I was you, I would buy "build of bear", No feeding and is house trained......

How about a bird? Get one that sings or talks - that will provide you with some company.
