What are the good reasons why watching anime' is fun?

Anime just is. It's a totally different animal from Western animation, which is ironic because they both constantly spawn off each other. But more variety and more movies made means there is a lot of crappy low-budget features. Thus the trade-off.
The Good:
More variety
It makes up about half of Japan's movies
Less limits on what is possible
Deeper stories
Greater depth of character
The Bad:
Some of the variety is very weird
Lower budget
The style can be very badly done
Less limits on what is possible

I regard anime as a passion. i draw, i read, i watch anime. i learn a lot from it actually. the good and the bad will depend on which genres you watch. it influences you to a great deal. personally i like those which has a slice of life on it, if its funny then it provides good entertainment.
the bad thing is - you can easily get addicted. it has a storyline you know, and sometimes it gets into your system. and if you stumble to the dark world of hentai - needless to say, THAT is not really good. be careful not to let the kids watch.

The most important keys to a fun anime IMO would be that it has to be original, has to have a good mixture of characters, and it has to have a storyline in which you have to keep glued to. Of course, too much of a good thing can turn out really bad (case in point; Pokemon). I accept the terms that much anime can get pretty weird. But i dont like the kind of weird thats up to the point where its really confusing or really awefull.

I think one of the good things about Anime is the variety, they have shows for just about anyone. The bad thing i guess it would be how a lot of them only come in Japanese with subtitles and the one's that do have English dubs aren't always acurate.
