Actually yes, it does. I had to do it this weekend at my house. Try using one (I prefer a gift card so you don't mess up your credit card), slide it gently into where the barrel goes into the door jam. Jiggle your handle a wee bit and keep manuevering the card in and out and it'll open - I have yale locks too. Practice it one time first before you rely on it. Oh, and then go out an buy a deadbolt because it's dangerous that someone can break in with just a credit card!!!!

Ure locked out and ure first resort is to ask the pple at Answers! for that we should give u 10 points..keep the faith. Take a ladder. lean it against ur wall. Get on top of the wall. Have somebody help the ladder over the wall onto the other side. Get down into the garden. Get into ur house. Then find ur keys and pass it over to the person on the other side and unlock urself. If u don't have ur keys u cud get the kind that open all locks or u cud smash ur lock in? I once locked myself in from my mother and she came in through the window after taking apart the grills. Nothing's impossible. Bon chance!

Yes it can be done, by inserting the credit cards between the door and the doorjamb. Work them against the tongue of the lock. A better solution is to hide a key somewhere outside, that you can retrieve, and unlock the door with. Just don't forget to replace the key in it's hiding place.

First look for a window that you may have forgot to lock.
The credit card myth is just that.
If you cant find a way in then you have to call a locksmith to pick the lock for you.

Is it a regular lock or a deadbolt. Better to walk around & check for an open window. If not call a lock smith. Less chance of damaging the door.
Good luck

my mate had to remove the beading around a small bathroom window and remove the pane of glass, then his son climbed in and opened the door - he just had to put the beading back on the window. The windows weren't that old but it DOES have to be the sort that has the beading on the OUTSIDE of the windows, the newer types have the beading on the inside to prevent burglars getting in!!
Also, if the windows aren't double glazed you could try 2 long thin screwdrivers - lever a window open with one and lift the arm assembly with the other.....

My wife locked herself out of the house. She called the fir brigade and they got in through an upstairs window to let her in... but then my 12 month old son was inside at the top of the stairs by himself so it was an emergency... ;o

a flexible credit card can be used to slide up or down trying to get behind the sticky out bit back into its keeper.
i am not posting anything that a wannabe burglar dosen't already know.
