It goes way back to the day of the crusades.
The Crusades were a series of military campaigns during the time of Medieval England against the Muslims of the Middle East. In 1076, the Muslims had captured Jerusalem - the most holy of holy places for Christians. Jesus had been born in nearby Bethlehem and Jesus had spent most of his life in Jerusalem. He was crucified on Calvary Hill, also in Jerusalem. There was no more important place on Earth than Jerusalem for a true Christian which is why Christians called Jerusalem the "City of God".
However, Jerusalem was also extremely important for the Muslims as Muhammad, the founder of the Muslim faith, had been there and there was great joy in the Muslim world when Jerusalem was captured. A beautiful dome - called the Dome of the Rock - was built on the rock where Muhammad was said to have sat and prayed and it was so holy that no Muslim was allowed to tread on the rock or touch it when visiting the Dome. Therefore the Christian fought to get Jerusalem back while the Muslims fought to keep Jerusalem. These wars were to last nearly 200 years
The modern day Christians and Muslims have modified their faith to suit them but they still spout hate in the name of religion.

I am a muslim but im not orthodox i just pray and thank god when it is the time and also i do fast.Well for the customs and stuff in Islam I don't think god is gaining anything by covering your whole body to the end and it is said tht we were those dresses to show tht we are respectful human beings, but we can show respect by proving yourself tht u are worth being a human, why go for these customs? So leaving the nescissities of being a muslim yes i do hv the right to say im a muslim...

Christians know they can't live up to the 10 commandments because we're all sinners. So no, not being able to follow them does not make you not a Christian. Being a Christian is based on faith in Christ as your savior.

I've recently been reading about Islamic creed and so have learnt that Muslims are told by god that he looks into the heart of people regardless of what they claim or indeed call themselves. So my answer is that God knows best.

Well I suppose those who don't follow their religion can be termed "Christian/Muslim in name only".
You'd get more feedback if you'd post on the spirituality forum...
