Is it okay to just use liquid foundation without applying powder over to settle it? What type of foundation would you recommend for a person who sweats a lot? Is liquid foundation alright?

You should find a foundation for oily skin.
The best one to get would be for oily skin and is also non comodogenic - won't block pores or create pimples.

The best choice would be to use a bit of powder but you don't have too, Just make sure you wash your face an oil control wash so when you sweat you won't get zits.

In reality, it's OK to do (or not do) whatever you want with your makeup. So if you wanted to use foundation without powder then that's your choice.
However, powder does more than set the foundation. It can help to absorb the sweat and oils on your face, leaving it with a more natural glow instead of a shine. It gives you a smoother finish than foundation alone, and helps to look more fresh and clean.
You want a light weight oil-free foundation. Something that won't clog pores, won't add any shine, and will help to absorb the sweat and oils from your face. You also might want to consider skipping the liquid, and getting a creme that works as both a foundation and powder so you aren't putting as much on your face. Or a mineral powder for an easy application, with less product going onto your face. And since it's a powder, you can more easily control how much, or how little, coverage you use based on your needs.
Neutrogena's Skin Clearing tint would be a good choice for light coverage, without the need for powder.

Or try their Skin Clearing compact that is a creme, so you would get foundation and powder in one easy application.

For an affordable mineral makeup, Neutrogena has Mineral Sheers.

Whatever you choose to use on your face, you might want to consider blotting papers. Sometimes called rice papers or powder papers, they absorb dirt, oils, sweat, and other impurities from your skin. You can buy them with out without a powder side, which gives you that fresh, finished look all day.

Powders just make your face look fuzzy. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone. Believe it or not Maybeline makes a product called age rewind. ITs nice for all ages and is a very smooth foundation and covers well. As far as you sweating a lot, use a waterproof foundation . That might help the problem but the foundation I mentioned above is a good one and is reasonably priced and wears well even if you perspire

I was never fond of liquids. Try bare minerals. There products are natural and work well with many skin types. For oily skin i definatley suggest getting there mineral veil. Its still powder but it goes on after the foundation to help with the shinnyness.

TruBlend by Cover Girl. goes on like silk, and you only need very little. don't drown your face in it. liquid would be better. powder will leave your face with streaks when you sweat.
