My man's a lobster fisherman. I use a cup of vinegar in each load of wash (along with detergent) and it cuts the bait smell on his clothes. And that's herring oil, so it should work on grease too. It's worth a try and it won't harm the clothes.

Try something easy first.
Wash the clothes in regular detergent the way you always do, but add a cup or two of baking soda. If the clothes come out still smelling like a deep fryer, don't dry them. Soak them in vinegar. Then wash them again in baking soda and detergent, using the soak cycle.

Give them a good wash with tide, and then when you rinse them take 1/2 cup of vinegar and add it to the rinse cycle. no more smell. Put them in the dryer, and the vinegar smell goes away also.

in case you go away a pan of vinegar out, this is going to neutralize the smell. i take advantage of pie pans and modify the vinegar each and every couple of days. This works nicely for eliminating cigarette smoke odors also.

My kids did the same job...I'm not sure the smell will ever come out, but I used Lysol with Tide and it worked okay.
