Subaru is not a tacky car. It's a good car with very good features for the money. Every year they've been number 1 for crash tests so people don't get hurt. I was in a car accident and my car was totaled and I was able to walk away with no scratches. I have a Subaru Impreza 2000 and it's great. The only difference between my car and the wrx is the wrx is a little faster. If you get the wrx your going to have to buy premium gas because of the turbo. If you can get an older model that's a 2.5 rs impreza you will be saving money on your car insurance. If you want the wrx they rate the insurance much higher. Also if you get a 4 door that's also cheaper with the insurance. The specks on the impreza from 1998-2000 were much better as they don't have everything on there like they use to. You can alway's add the turbo to 2.5 rs if you want. Go online to subaru.com and look at the impreza's from 98-07 and you will see the difference in the looks.

I know a lot of young folks will disagree but I am going with the WRX Sti. But not just any Sti, I would get one pre-dating 1998. Particularly a 1997. Why? Well I've had my hand in the pot of many-a-STI but I have never seen one handle the way the 97 version does. The newer model's great out the box and really requires no wrench work to inspire. However, these newer cars are electrical based, by that I mean the mechanical points that allow you to feel the road through your hands and feet now have settings that don't allow those nuances to reach you. I am speaking from a racing/drifting POV, which means I pay to much attention to potholes then I should so I'm prolly not on the same page as you'll. UK3 just has racing weight but the suspension is basically the same and is only slightly different because they changed the weight shift and front and rear lift. The headlamps, trunk wing and bumper slicer are the major differences. It suppose to look more aggressive. Shifting is a bit better but it helps when you got a gear box that looks somewhat like McLarens short throw. I can't answer the question though, just depends on how you drive and where you drive. Sorry, I drift on dirt and concrete...1997 WRX STI is my choice. I wish I could add a picture of me driving my dad's STI but I can't load it or add an attachment. That's just my opinion. 2007 is a great car....i guess. The SVX is great too and buying one used then modifing it, cost less to get it to WRX competative specs then the WRX itself. You save cash! Plus it gets look points. The WRX looks like a WRX but a SVX with the fully see-through or fully tinted roof is nice!! You can disconnect it to make a full convertable though getting it back on is way harder but its quick with 230hp stock and the turbo and performance heads alone bring her will over 300hp. It's the sleeper of the year!

Best Subaru Impreza

The WRX STi is the one to go for. It has a host of upgrades that 99% of people don't know about, which results in a car which is noticeably quicker through the bends than a normal WRX.

If you're a connuissuer you need a 22B, the original, wide arched, two door model with slippy diffs, intercooler spray, wider track and lightened & strengthened bodyshell.

BMW's are indeed made very well and are fantastic to drive, but to get one that nears the pace of an imprezza you're looking at a (very expensive) M3.

The STI with it's 300 bhp and 300 lbs of torque. I believe most magazines had it at 4.6 seconds from 0-60. I think the STI and EVO are the two best cars in terms of bang for the buck.

Don't listen to the BMW guy. The closest BMW that can match an STI or EVO in performance is the M3 and it costs roughly $30k more. You can dump in $3k of mods and easily blow the M3 away. Just zoom by, smile, and flash all the extra cash you saved.

LOL at the dude that refered to vaginas. He must be butt hurt because no Subaru driver will street race him. Ha ha ha street racers are the lowest form of driver there is.

For the advanced enthusiast the Impreza is a great tool for everyday driving as well as track events.

I vote STi Limited (A-spec in Japan) but that's just me.

Depends how much money you want to spend on motoring.Sti is best but more expensive to insure and fuel. WRX is plenty fast enough for everyday use.Consider the parallel imports(eg Motorpoint)for big savings
