what kind of qualifications does a person need to become a mayor? can a person be a mayor and a businessman/lawyer/doctor etc. at the same time?

It depends on where you are.

Some cities have a mayor as a full-time paid employee, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the municipality. Others have the mayor in a more ceremonial position, hiring a city manager to handle the day-to-day stuff.

Obviously, if your city doesn't pay the mayor, then it's expected that the mayor would have a "day job."

Any person with a college degree, popular because he is phenomenal can be elected as mayor. He can be a businessman and a doctor but not a lawyer at the same time because of the confidrnvisl nastur of his office and also the code of ethics for a lawyer forbids dual positions which is self-eplanatory.

You'll need a clean background,any military or law enforcement history is a plus but other than that you just need the people in the town/city you live in to like you enought to represent them.
