people have suggested that i press the linksys wireless router button for connection...i did so and it does work...but the preset name for my wi-fi will be gone....i set a name for my connection.....my desktop is connected to it via cable and is working fine.....so is it something wrong with my laptop or router?....and what's the fix???

first thing to do is to contact LINKSYS TECHNICAL SUPPORT = 800 326-7114

NOTE: computers that are using ETHERNET/cable connection from the linksys doesn't need any PASSWORD for it to connect, BUT for computers that will be using WIRELESS, then we should need to configure the linksys for the wireless... LINKSYS Tech will walk you through the process in enabling the wireless settings... there is a TAB in the LINKSYS Interface that says WIRELESS.. that is where we are going to start..

Pressing the "easy" button sets up defaults, don't do that if you don't want the defaults.

If you need to refresh your DHCP lease, power down and power up the router, don't push the button.
