I hope so, I've got a bet on with odds of 8/1 that it will snow in London on Christmas day.

I hope so - I wanna have white Christmas
But from the propability I'd say no, since usually the winter season in the alps should start this weekend - Thing is this week we had temperatures of over 20˚C / 70 F and every major ski resort has big problems since it's too warm to produce fake snow!
In Finland the whole winter thing is even weirder.
So let's see England: it snows rarely there and considering of my experience the propability of snow is low.
On the other hand in the last couple of years the whole cold season has shifted (It's delayed: coming in January and sometimes ending in late April or May).
And since the Golf Stream and importantly the North Atlantic Current has already lost approx 60% of it's efficiency, the UK should consider having more and more continetal climate...
which would bring snow
My conclusion:
Although it's still impropable, the propability is higher that it was 50 years ago. If it snows it'll be later in the 'winter' season let's say earliest around the Chinese New Year and latest around Easter.

We don't get really heavy snow any more, the reasons for which scientists are still squabbling about. Even if it did snow the chances of it freezing and causing anything more than a minor inconvenience is very remote.
Winter doesn't normally start until the middle of January.

O I hope so, I live in the channel islands and we hardly ever get snow over here, if you lot in the south get it we have around a 50% chance of getting it here! Only problem is the whole place grinds to a halt even if it's only a dusting lol

I assume all those people who yearn for loads of snow don't have to go out in it for reasons ranging from doing a bit of shopping to looking after the elderly or farm animals and don't work (nor will need !) the emergency services.
Then perhaps one day they'll realise that life isn't all snowballs and sledges !

I always go by the v scientific method of how much berries there are on trees and bushes - the trees know that it will be a cold winter so they produce extra fruit so that the birds can fatten up and keep warm.
