A group of armadilli (not armadillos) is referred to by various names. In the British Isles, with the exception of the Eastern part of Wales, they are called "bangers", While in East Wales they are a "Llegrypllyn" (Those Welsh----they are a real riot!)

However, since the armadillo is not indigenous to any part of the British Isles, their opinion is, really, irrelevant.

In the Southern part of North America, including parts of the U.S., Central and South America where you might actually encounter one of these implacable predators the preferred nomenclature is a "Lump"

The collective noun for armadillos is armadillos. It's like moose, mouse, etc. There are some nouns that you don't need to make plural.

Apparently it's a fez of armadillos. But a good guess could have been a shell.
