I rented a place that was in crappy "as is" condition and the landlord knew the place was not in good condition + had carpet issues when I moved into it. Now that I have tried to find out what happened to my deposit, he is trying to charge me for the SAME carpet damage that was there when I moved in. He is now harassing me because he knows im 7 months (high risk) pregnant and hes trying to strong arm me into giving him $236 for new carpet. Even though he still has my $300 deposit. AND hes trying to make me pay $60 to have the carpet cleaned. This landlord never did a check in sheet or a walk through when I left. What can I do?

Also, I moved out over two months ago and the lease stated that they have 5 days to inspect the place and 30 days to contact me by mail. However, they are just NOW talking about this because I called to find out about the deposit.

AND Why is he telling me I have to pay out of pocket if the $300 deposit covers the amount ?

Take him on Judge Alex?

If there was never a check in sheet you really have no way of proving what was damaged before you moved in....

Is there anything in the lease that might help you?
