i think these things are not related in so many ways.

People never put so much emphasis on happiness historically as they do now. if you take principles that we have developed on as a race:

Evolution for one doesn't require it, it just uses it as a tool to get us to do things but at the end of the day nature doesn't care whether we're happy or not so long as we do what it wants us to do.

None of the religions focus that much on being happy in this world, maybe some of our interpretations lean towards that mindset. but it is a fact that people who have some sort of faith live longer and are happier.

there are so many things that would make so many of us happy,
but if we indulged it would be bad. If happiness was controlled by our morality e.g. if we were only happy when something was good then this would be true but it's not.

Take humour for example; alot of the things we laugh at are non-pc and cruel we find enjoyment in so many things that come at the expense of others america thrives on having killed and then enslaved two nations, most other countries also have quite gruesome histories and someone somewhere must have decided that what they were about to do was the right thing to do and many others had to have agreed for it to have happened.

How many of us have not over eaten, drank too much, laughed at someone else in an unfortunate situation... at the end of the day it's us who decide what's morally acceptable and what's not so there is a case to be made for saying that sometimes it's not that bad regardless of whether it's true or not, because it's up to us to decide whether embarrassing our boss, tying the newbie's shoelaces together, telling amusing porkies or sleeping with someone else's spouse is really that bad or not.

There are probably some people out there who would deny themselves the pleasure if they felt its potential source was bad, but most of us don't think about it: it either is good or bad but that's got nothing to do with whether it makes us happy or not.

I think it is literally inaccurate. The perversity of mankind and the evil men do make this impossible.

I think it represents a morals check. If the statement 'if it makes you happy, it can't be that bad' doesn't apply to whatever makes you happy then you should question why you enjoy it at least. Sometimes bad is good. What makes a reunion special is the anguish of time passed separately.

The happiness of the world is in its sin and sin always carries with it a negative consequences. Getting drunk makes you happy, but there is nothing pleasing about the hangover that follows or the lack of money in your pocket. The only true happiness is in the joy of the Lord.

I don't think it has anything to do with accuracy. I think it's a way of saying that if it makes you happy, then good for you, if not good for me. It's a kind of sarcasm in my opinion, when people don't agree with you that it's something that will make them happy, and they're lost for something to say. I would assume, if said to me, that the person I was talking to was not at all interested in what made me happy.

Not very. There are many things that I would like to do, that would make me extremely happy. They would not of course be either legal or 'good'. Others would therefore consider my actions a bad thing, as would a part of me (Only a small part though).

Very inaccurate, because if something makes someone happy, it could indirectly affect someone else in a bad way, so if one person is happy about something, another person could be hurt by the same thing.

It depends, there are some things that people happy that are bad, like paedophillia, robbery, rape, they make those people happy but they're not good - so, if it makes you happy and it's not hurting anyone else or you then go for it.

It's spot on.

BUT, it has to be long term happiness.
If it makes you happy
When you do it
When you think back about it
When you face the consequences of it

Then it can't be that bad at all.
