It's weird I know, but this song was shown for a few seconds during the 1989 (yes we are going a long way back here!) Oscar awards, it is defintiely much older than that though as it was shown as being sung by a very young Jodie Foster and another boy who could quite possibly be the bloke from the Blue Lagoon movies, I remember one line going like this - and I think it was the end of the chorus - 'Love goes on and on' - does anyone have any ideas?

Usually, they only perform nominated songs at the awards so, if it was the 1989 Academy Awards then it had to be one of these songs:

“After All,” Chances Are, Tom Snow, music; Dean Pitchford, lyrics
“The Girl Who Used to Be Me,” Shirley Valentine, Marvin Hamlisch, music; Alan and Marilyn Bergman, lyrics
“I Love to See You Smile,” Parenthood, Randy Newman, music and lyrics

The other two nominated songs were from the Little Mermaid. I'm pretty sure that they aren't what you're looking for.

the only one I can find is by Chris Cagle and it's called Love Goes On and On.

Not convinced this is the actual one though but it's the one that comes up on most of the sights I found!!
